Position: Debt Coach

Job Summary:

The Debt Coach will be trained by ONTO to be responsible for providing one-on-one support and guidance to clients in order to help them understand and manage their debt. The Debt Coach will provide assistance in developing repayment plans, negotiating with creditors in debt relief, and helping clients find solutions to their financial problems. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as experience working with debtors. The Debt Coach will work closely with clients to ensure successful repayment and financial goals are followed and met. The Debt Coach will review clients’ credit reports and input the information into our Customer Relationship Management software, develop repayment plans, negotiate with creditors, and help clients find solutions to their financial problems. The candidate will be communicating via Chat and Phone with clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate clients’ financial situation and develop debt repayment strategies
  • Let the client know what to say so they can call their creditor(s) to reduce debts
  • Correctly guide clients to understand their financial options and make informed decisions
  • Develop and implement effective budgeting plans for clients to manage their expenses and reduce debt
  • Review client credit reports and input the information into the Customer Relationship Management software
  • Monitor progress of client debt repayment plans and provide ongoing support to the clients
  • Research and suggest solutions to client debt management issues
  • Assist clients in understanding the implications of debt consolidation and other options available to them
  • Remain up-to-date with changes in debt management laws and regulations in the respective US state
  • Provide financial education and counseling to clients to help them make sound financial decisions
  • Make outbound calls to clients
  • Receive inbound calls from clients
  • Chat with clients over chat system
  • Reply to client emails

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or a related field
  • At least two years of experience in US consumer debt management or a related field
  • Demonstrated knowledge of US consumer debt management laws and regulations
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in using Customer Relationship Management software and other financial software we may use
  • Knowledge of budgeting, credit counseling, debt consolidation, debt reduction, and debt relief
  • Ability to remain organized and maintain accurate records and information
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
